Traffic light training

There are two courses.

Traffic light training - Members.  This course is for school canteen staff, Parent bodies and Canteen volunteers who are members of the Western Australian School Canteen Association Inc. 

Cost: $15.00 (GST INC), only choose this if you are a member

Traffic light training - Non Members. This course is for school canteen staff, Parent bodies and Canteen volunteers who are non-members of the Western Australian School Canteen Association Inc.

Cost: $20.00 (GST INC), only choose this if you are a non-member

Traffic light training - Members

This course is for school canteen staff, parent bodies and canteen volunteers who are members of the Western Australian School Canteen Association Inc.

Cost: $15.00 (GST INC), only choose this if you are a member.

The learning outcomes from this course are:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of the Healthy Food and Drink (HFD) policy; including 5 areas of compliance
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of school stakeholders in implementing the HFD policy
  • Increase knowledge of food and nutrition
  • Increase understanding the Traffic light system of categorising food and drinks
  • Develop canteen menu assessment skills
  • Increase confidence to accurately colour code the canteen menu and assess compliance
  • Develop food selection skills for planning a nutritionally balanced menu and increase the percentage of green items
  • Demonstrate an understanding of advocating for healthy food and drinks

The training takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete. 

Traffic light training - Non members

Traffic light training - School staff and health professionals

This course is for all school staff including Principals, Teachers, Administrative staff and Health professionals (such as Community Health Nurses) who are working with schools to support a healthy environment.

Cost: $15 (GST INC) 

The learning outcomes from this course are:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of the Healthy Food and Drink (HFD) policy; including 5 areas of compliance
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of school stakeholders in implementing the HFD policy
  • Increase knowledge of food and nutrition
  • Increase understanding the Traffic light system of categorising food and drinks
  • Increase understanding of menu planning and assessments
  • Demonstrate an understanding of advocating for healthy food and drinks

The training takes less than 60 minutes to complete.
